MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF PARA-LEGALS

The para-legals will be supervised on a monthly base by a chief para-legal from the regional office. Apart from monthly visits by a staff (chief para legal) from the regional office to the para-legal offices, the para-legals will write monthly reports of their activities and address same to the chief paralegal. The chief para-legal is there after expected to write a quarterly report of the para-legal activities and addressed same to the director or coordinator of the project. The lawyer who also is expected to supervise the para-legals at his instance but at least quarterly is expected to write a quarterly report and address same to the director or coordinator of the project.

Within every six months, the para-legals are expected to have a refresher where in all the the para-legals the chief para-legal and the lawyers come together for a number of days. During this bi-annual refreshers, the para-legals exchange experiences and the lawyer gives directives as to the way forward either in respect of legal issues or how to embark on counseling in difficult situations. The lawyer will also share his experiences with the para-legal. At the end of the refreshers, the para-legals are better empowered to continue with their activities.
